Harry’s Family Restaurant … Home of Harry’s Burger and Harry’s Special Sandwich
Harry’s Family Restaurant is full of travelers all summer long. Come winter, you’ll find Alaskans there. Harry’s serves breakfast all day long. If the breakfasts at most cafes in Alaska are too big for you, Harry’s may be just right. The French toast breakfast has two slices of French toast and two strips of bacon. They also have a Continental breakfast. The lunch menu includes a long list of burgers, sandwiches, salads, and deep fried baskets. They have daily specials. One of them is Harry’s Special Sandwich. It’s roast beef with tomatoes, grilled onions, mushrooms, jalapenos, and Swiss cheese on grilled sourdough bread. You can get a plain hamburger. At the opposite extreme, you can get a Harry’s burger. Harry’s burger has ground beef, ham, bacon, American and Swiss cheese, grilled onions, mushrooms, and jalapeno pepper slices. In between the extremes, you’ll find the Aloha burger with ham, Swiss cheese, and a grilled pineapple ring. Or, the Philly burger with mushrooms, onion, green peppers, and cheddar cheese. Or, one of a dozen other hamburger choices. Harry’s dinner menu has steaks, liver and onions, chicken strips, seafood, and pork chops. The selections that might surprise you are the teriyaki dinners. Then again, this is Alaska and many eateries reflect an Asian influence. Harry’s also prepares fisherman’s box lunches. They are convenient to take with along when you go out on a fishing charter. Prices are generally reasonable. Harry’s Special Sandwich is a deal. You’ll find Harry’s Family Restaurant at the Y in Soldotna. It is in a small strip mall. The address is 34851 Kenai Spur Highway, Soldotna, AK. The phone number is 260-3137. Behind Harry’s Family Restaurant is the Soldotna Wash and Dry. The Wash and Dry is a good place for travelers to do laundry and take showers.
