Alaska Life and Travel gives you our view of Alaska. Here you will find Alaska, as seen and lived by Alaskans. Where we eat, camp, fish, tour, and shop. Where we go on vacation, the tourist attractions we visit. How we live in The Greatland, our country’s 49th state.
We, your Alaska Life and Travel editors, came to Alaska as tourists. We’d spent a decade as full-time RVers, traveling around the United States. We’d been to the east and west coast, to Hawaii, to Mexico, and to Canada. It was time to visit Alaska, so we headed north.
It was to be a three-month summer trip. Our summer travels took us on a tour up the Haul Road to Prudhoe Bay. We fished the Kenai Peninsula. We attended the Alaska State Fair and took in many tourist attractions. We spent Summer Equinox in Fairbanks. We found Hope, in Hope. And, gold in Ester. But, we couldn’t possibly see all of Alaska’s sights in one summer. So, we stayed through the winter.
We found that although we liked Alaska in the summer, we loved it in the winter. Although beautiful in the summer, it is gorgeous in the winter. Wintering in AK gave us the chance to see Alaska as Alaskans.
We now own a piece of Alaska. It is our home. Alaska life and travel is our life.
